2021 has seen an unprecedented use of the word ‘unprecedented,’ and our airline industry experienced every aspect of this well-worn theme. Among the hardest hit in our region, the pandemic upended tourism as well as trade, cargo, and logistics. Join this panel of leaders from airlines, terminal operators, and airport authorities in a thoughtful and critical conversation. Putting Local Transit in the Fast Lane: Building Universal Transit Access

Session 2: Movement of People

We know that sustainable mobility solutions need thriving public transit systems, which include strong local policies and innovative infrastructure. We’ve convened transit leaders to share their insights on offering safe, reliable, and efficient last-mile access to our workplaces, homes, and beyond. This conversation builds on the Board's latest report ‘Next Stop’, which focuses on solving our region’s ‘the last mile’ challenges, and touches on talent attraction, retention, the environment, and best-and-highest use of space.

Building in an Evolving Mobility Landscape: Drawing Global Lessons for the Future

Session 3 – Infrastructure

By 2030, the UN Population Division estimates that the number of urban-dwellers will reach 5 billion – 60% of the world's population. It’s never been more essential to examine how cities’ long-term economic and environmental health depends on smart mobility solutions. We need ambitious leaders to improve our region’s infrastructure, develop transit-oriented communities, and reduce our emissions. To this end, we convened a panel of local and global experts to share updates on their major projects, as well as present solutions we might consider adopting.

View from the Park: A Provincial Leader’s Perspective

Afternoon Keynote – Hon. Caroline Mulroney, Ontario Minister of Transportation + Francophone Affairs

Leaders south of the border are proposing historical infrastructure investments, heralded as a ‘once in a century opportunity.’ How are we matching that ambition here in Ontario? With almost two and a half years in her role as Ontario's Transportation Minister, the Hon. Caroline Mulroney will share insights and experiences that will define Ontario’s transportation.

Greener, Leaner and Faster: The Future of Sustainable Transit

Session 4: The Future of Transportation

In 1950s sci-fi movies we were promised flying cars by 2015. While we’ve fallen behind schedule, no mid-century futurist could predict our on-demand ecosystem of passenger transport and goods shipment. Today’s tech entrepreneurs have utopian dreams of swift, convenient, and clean transportation, but on the ground there’s logistics, stakeholders, and regulations. Private and public sector innovators will grapple with this dichotomy and share ideas on evolving electrification, the nature of work, and transportation operations.
